Factory manager

As the Vertical Farming Factory Manager, you will oversee the day-to-day operations of our cutting-edge vertical farming facility. You will be responsible for ensuring the smooth and efficient functioning of all aspects of the production process, from seedling cultivation to harvest, packaging, and distribution. Your primary objective will be to optimize productivity, quality, and resource utilization to achieve production targets while maintaining the highest standards of crop health and food safety.

Tasks:

  • Monitor and maintain optimal growing conditions, including temperature, humidity, lighting, and nutrient levels, to maximize crop yield and quality.
  • Develop and implement pest and disease management strategies to safeguard the crops and minimize the need for chemical interventions.
  • Collaborate with the research and development team to identify and implement new technologies, equipment, and cultivation practices that drive continuous improvement.
  • Establish and maintain inventory management systems to ensure an adequate supply of materials, such as seeds, fertilizers, and packaging materials.
  • Oversee the adherence to food safety and quality control protocols, ensuring compliance with industry regulations and certification standards.
  • Develop and manage budgets, monitor expenses, and identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising quality and productivity.

Ideal candidate:

  • Bachelor’s degree in horticulture, agriculture, plant science, or a related field. A master’s degree is a plus.
  • Proven experience in managing vertical farming operations, preferably in a commercial setting.
  • In-depth knowledge of hydroponic or aeroponic cultivation techniques, crop physiology, and plant nutrition.
  • Familiarity with automated systems and technologies used in vertical farming, such as climate control systems, lighting, and irrigation.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and guide a diverse team.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities and the capacity to make informed decisions under pressure.
  • Understanding of food safety regulations and quality control processes.
  • Exceptional organizational and time management skills to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Passion for sustainable agriculture and a commitment to environmental stewardship.
